Hospital Crisis Watch

Hospital Crisis Watch tracks the harm Trump and the GOP's Big, Ugly Bill is doing to hospitals and care facilities around the country.

Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans passed the largest health care cuts in history, slashing Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, in order to fund tax breaks for the wealthy and big corporations. Cash-strapped medical centers, clinics, hospital wards, and long-term care facilities are losing critical sources of support and revenue because of these massive Republican cuts. As hospitals and nursing homes cut services or shut down, people will lose jobs, local and state economies will suffer, and entire communities will be left without access to care.

From rural Nebraska to coastal California and Maine beach towns, people across the country, including seniors, people with disabilities, expectant mothers, and cancer patients, will have to travel further to get care and endure longer wait times in overwhelmed emergency rooms. Trump and the Republicans are sacrificing hospitals and lifesaving care for millions to give tax breaks to the rich. And now, the consequences are playing out in real time. As more hospitals and care facilities buckle under the pressure, the damage will only spread.

With Hospital Crisis Watch, we’re exposing the full scale of harm Republicans are inflicting on America’s health care system—community by community, hospital by hospital. The public deserves to know who’s responsible. And we won’t stop until they’re held accountable.
