Yesterday, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released its final analysis of Donald Trump and Republicans’ devastating tax bill. It confirms this bill makes the largest health care cuts in history, all to fund massive tax breaks for the wealthiest individuals and corporations. As a direct result, more than 15 million Americans will lose their health care. Not only will 10 million be kicked off Medicaid, but Republicans’ relentless sabotage of the Affordable Care Act and elimination of tax credits that make coverage more affordable for middle-class families will force 5 million to lose their health care. Insurance premiums will skyrocket for middle-class families; hundreds of rural hospitals and nursing homes will shut their doors; children, seniors, and people with disabilities will lose access to their coverage and care; and entire communities will be left behind. Donald Trump and Republicans will continue to lie about this bill, but this CBO analysis exposes the truth: this is an attack on working Americans – ripping away health care from millions of middle- and low-income Americans to fund tax breaks for the ultrarich.

(The rule has since been changed and finalized, but CBO has yet to update that part of its estimate.)

STAT: 10 Million Expected To Lose Health Insurance Under Trump’s Tax Cut Law, CBO Says.
- “President Trump’s major domestic policy law will result in nearly 10 million more people going without health insurance by 2034, according to the Congressional Budget Office’s estimate on the final law. […] The CBO’s analysis doesn’t say which health programs will account for the losses in coverage, though the bill’s heaviest spending cuts focus on Medicaid. The slashes in federal health care funding, especially in Medicaid, have left providers scrambling to make sense of the financial repercussions — and could leave low-income patients with fewer options and reduced coverage.”
