Headlines continue to roll in, proving Democrats are winning the shutdown fight and voters clearly stand with them on health care. As Republicans try to lie and spin the narrative, the latest polling shows that Democrats keep topping every poll on who Americans trust to make health care more affordable. Per CNN: “Every quality public poll has shown Trump and Republicans continue to shoulder more blame than Democrats.” Over 70 percent of Americans support keeping the working families’ tax credits that Republicans are determined to end – even if it means a longer government shutdown. And if those tax credits go away, polls show that voters will blame Donald Trump and his Republican allies for their skyrocketing premiums. Now, Republicans are taking notice and realizing the price they will pay in the midterms.
CNN: “Democrats Keep Winning The Blame Game.” President Donald Trump claimed Tuesday that Democrats were “getting killed in the polls.” This does not appear at all accurate. In fact, every quality public poll has shown Trump and Republicans continue to shoulder more blame than Democrats.
AP: “Health Care Remains Important To Americans When It’s Center Stage In Washington.” “About 8 in 10 U.S. adults say the issue of health care is “extremely” or “very” important to them personally. That includes about 9 in 10 Democrats and three-quarters of Republicans, and it puts health care next to the economy among Americans’ top issue priorities.”
- About 6 in 10 Americans are “extremely” or “very” concerned about their health costs going up in the next year, the survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds — a worry that extends across age groups and includes people with and without health insurance.
Punchbowl: “Health Care Is Already Playing a Huge Role in the 2026 Senate Landscape. And It’s Only Going to Get Larger.” “Republicans have already largely lost the messaging war over the OBBB. Massive Medicaid cuts included in the GOP bill were always going to be a big problem for Republicans heading into the midterms. Now, add the Obamacare premiums issue into the mix with spiking health care costs.”
The Hill: Vulnerable House Republicans Urge Johnson to Address Obamacare Subsidies. “The letter from moderates shows some growing GOP anxiety over the seeming lack of a public plan from leadership to extend the subsidies.”
Reuters: “Americans Blame Republican Lawmakers More Than Democratic Lawmakers for a Partial Government Shutdown.” “The poll found that 50% of respondents see the Republican congressional leadership as deserving the most blame for the shutdown.” “Some 72% of respondents — including almost all Democrats and half of Republicans — said” health insurance tax credits “should be kept in place.”
