The Trump-GOP health care premium increases are devastating over 24 million Americans who buy health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and ACA enrollees know Trump and Republicans are to blame for their premium pain. That’s the message from the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF)’s latest poll of 2025 ACA marketplace enrollees.
Here are the toplines:
- 🚨 84% of ACA enrollees — including nearly all Democrats and about seven in ten Republicans — want Congress to restore the tax credits that help almost 22 million hard-working Americans afford health care.
- 🚨 89% of enrollees are waiting to decide whether to re-enroll or what plan to select for 2026 based on whether the GOP restores the tax credits this month.
- 🚨 25% of enrollees — one in four — say they’ll likely go without health insurance if the GOP fails to reduce their premiums.
- 🚨 66% of enrollees have little to no confidence that President Trump will lower health care costs for people like them. 67% have little to no confidence that congressional Republicans will bring down costs.
- 🚨 41% of enrollees who support the credits say they’ll blame Trump if he fails to restore them. 35% say they’ll blame congressional Republicans.
- 🚨 52% of enrollees who are registered to vote say a $1,000 increase in their 2026 health care costs would have a major impact on which party they vote for.
This poll confirms what headline after headline has shown: voters vehemently oppose Republican efforts to hike health care costs for everyday Americans while ripping away the tax credits that help them afford care. The American people have noticed that Trump and the GOP are all too eager to extend tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations but are leaving working families out to dry. Unless Republicans start prioritizing health care for working families, they face a shellacking in the 2026 midterm elections.
