Health care premium prices are skyrocketing after Donald Trump and Republicans passed the largest health care cuts in U.S. history, slashing over $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Because of these policies, insurance companies have already indicated they plan to raise premiums for 24 million Americans by an average of 15 percent — and it gets worse. Republicans have also eliminated key tax credits for middle-class families, which will force over 20 million of these Americans to pay an average of 75 percent more for their coverage. As a result of this health care disaster that Trump and Republicans have created, millions of families will see their premiums nearly double this fall. Countless hardworking families will lose life-saving coverage and go without care, and for millions more, it will make the already-rising cost of living even harder to shoulder. Rather than lowering health care costs, Trump and Republicans chose to protect the interests of billionaires and big corporations at the expense of everyday Americans.
Protect Our Care’s Premium Disaster Watch exposes how Donald Trump and Republicans’ spending bill is driving up health care premiums for millions of families nationwide, putting affordable coverage further out of reach.
