Ahead of SOTU, Protect Our Care’s Newest Report Grades Trump’s Health Care Record — He Flunks at Lowering Costs But Gets an A+ For Enriching Billionaires
From bustling coastal cities to rural heartland towns, the American people have had enough of the Trump-GOP health care affordability crisis. Trump will undoubtedly boast about how well Wall Street is performing tonight, but polling shows that 71% of Americans are very concerned about the cost of health care, and 72% rate his economy as poor or fair. It is no surprise, then, that health care affordability is now Americans’ top pocketbook concern. No amount of grandstanding and theater at the lectern will change the fact that ripping away working families’ tax credits to bankroll tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations will be the GOP’s undoing at the ballot box in November. In the meantime, while Trump and congressional Republicans pretend their policies haven’t jacked up premiums for nearly 22 million Americans — including working families, small business owners, and caregivers — they cannot hide from the coverage.
