Republicans Want to Rip Away Health Care from Millions to Fund Tax Breaks for the Wealthy
Washington, D.C. — On Monday, May 12th at 4 PM ET, House Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Representative Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ-06), Ranking Member on Health Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO-01), and Vice Ranking Member Rep. Lizzie Fletcher (D-TX-07) will join Protect Our Care for a press conference to call out Republicans’ plan to make the largest cuts to Medicaid in history. Americans across party lines oppose cuts to Medicaid, but Republicans are charging ahead to take away people’s health care in order to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations.
Tomorrow, Republicans on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce are voting on their legislation to slash billions from Medicaid funding. These catastrophic cuts would throw millions of hardworking families off their coverage, shutter rural hospitals, and kick seniors out of nursing homes. The latest research shows that, under this Republican plan, millions will lose coverage and thousands could die each year.
