Washington, D.C. – Today, Senators Peter Welch (D-VT) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) introduced the Repeal Trump Sick Tax Act to end portions of Donald Trump and Republicans’ tax bill that would increase prescription drug and out-of-pocket costs for millions of Americans. The GOP bill made the largest health care cuts in history in order to hand tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations. As a result, more than 15 million Americans will lose their health care and drown in medical debt, insurance premiums will skyrocket, hundreds of rural hospitals and nursing homes will shut their doors, thousands will lose jobs, states and local economies will be left to suffer, and entire communities will be left behind.

“Senators Welch and Wyden are taking an important step to roll back some of the most harmful provisions of Donald Trump and Republicans’ health care cuts,” said Protect Our Care Chair Leslie Dach. “Because of Republicans, prescription drug prices and out-of-pocket costs are set to skyrocket for those who can least afford it, leaving them nowhere to turn for life-saving medications and care. The Repeal Trump Sick Tax Act is a vital step toward combating the GOP War on Health Care and protecting the health and dignity of millions.”
