Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Democrats unveiled their plan to stop the GOP premium crisis by restoring the current Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits for over 21 million Americans through a clean three-year extension. Senate Democrats are joining their colleagues in the House, who introduced a discharge petition last month, to put an end to the GOP premium hikes and restore the current tax credits. House Democrats stand unified in calling for the extension of these critical tax credits, while all House Republicans have remained insistent on raising health care costs for working Americans.
Trump and Congressional Republicans have launched a full-scale attack on working people’s health care. They ransacked over $1 trillion from Medicaid and the ACA to fund their billionaire and big corporation tax breaks. Now, they are hell-bent on ripping away ACA tax credits from millions of hard-working families. The solution to ending the GOP premium crisis is simple: 70 percent of Americans support extending the tax credits. It’s time for Republicans to do what the American people want and end their war on health care.
