Washington, D.C. – On November 1, less than two weeks away, Affordable Care Act open enrollment begins. Unless Donald Trump and congressional Republicans drop their ridiculous scheme to rip health care tax credits away from working families, over 24 million Americans will log onto the ACA marketplace and find that their health plans are more than twice as expensive as last year. Over four million will lose coverage because these skyrocketing prices are simply unaffordable. The GOP will have no one but themselves to blame for carving out tax breaks for billionaires while putting tax relief for working families on the chopping block.

Last year, more Americans had health insurance coverage than ever before, saving millions of families from the heart-wrenching choice between sending their children to the doctor and keeping food on the table. Republicans seem to think they have until the end of the year to cut a health care deal, but November 1 is a hard deadline for hard-working families who need to figure out how to stay insured next year despite rising prices and GOP chaos.

“Republicans are so out of touch with working people that they think they can ignore the over 20 million Americans who, on November 1, will log onto a computer and see their monthly premiums more than double,” said Protect Our Care President Brad Woodhouse. “The clock is ticking. Mike Johnson needs to get his Republican buddies back to work before millions lose their insurance to this GOP-created health care chaos.”
