Nationally 800 Hospitals and Care Facilities Nationwide Are Under Attack Due to Cuts
Concord, NH – New Hampshire is set to receive more than $200 million in funding aimed at stabilizing rural hospitals and health care providers, as communities across the state face mounting financial and operational pressures.
On Wednesday, April 8 at 11:30 AM, Protect Our Care New Hampshire will host a virtual media event to examine whether this funding will be enough—and what is at stake if it is not.
The event will feature Edward D. Shanshala II, MSHSA, MSEd, CEO of Ammonoosuc Community Health Services (ACHS), who will speak directly to the realities facing rural providers. ACHS made the difficult decision to close its Bethlehem clinic in late 2025 due to ongoing financial constraints—an example of the pressures many community-based providers are now navigating.
As health care costs continue to rise and funding pressures increase, programs like Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act remain essential to maintaining access to care. These programs support thousands of Granite Staters and help sustain hospitals, clinics, and critical services—particularly in rural and underserved areas.
Without stable funding, hospitals and providers face difficult decisions that can lead to reduced services, longer wait times, and diminished access to care. In some cases, entire communities risk losing local access to emergency services, maternity care, and routine treatment.
Media are invited to attend.
