Today, Protect Our Care is holding events in New York and Ohio to demand that Republicans put an end to their manufactured health care crisis and pass a budget that doesn’t put hard-working families on the chopping block. Since taking power, Republicans and Donald Trump have launched an unrelenting assault on the nation’s health care system, and now, they are holding the government hostage to rip health care tax credits away from everyday Americans. If the GOP successfully guts the tax credits, 24 million Americans who buy health insurance on their own will see their premiums soar, jumping more than double for most families, while millions are estimated to lose coverage altogether. Democrats are crystal clear: they are ready to vote for a bipartisan budget that stops all this chaos, but won’t be complicit in hurting the American people.
