Today, Protect Our Care is holding five events across the country to urge Republicans to stop the chaos and destruction of American health care and protect hard-working families by extending the health insurance tax credits permanently and restoring $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid. If Republicans rip premium tax credits away, 24 million Americans who buy insurance on their own will see their premiums skyrocket, with most families paying up to 90 percent more for their health care while millions more stand to lose coverage as a result of the GOP’s Medicaid cuts.
Right now, Republicans are going to shut down the government unless they can slash Medicaid to the bone and end the tax credits for working people. While Democrats fight for accessible and affordable health care, Republicans keep pushing a dirty bill that helps no one but their billionaire and big corporation allies. It’s time for Republicans to clean up the mess they created, extend the tax credits permanently, and restore coverage for millions across the country.
