Washington, D.C. — Today, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. testified before the Senate Finance Committee, where he failed to defend his assault on our nation’s health care system. Since his confirmation as Secretary of Health and Human Services six months ago, RFK Jr. has been on a rampage, dismantling the CDC, gutting Medicare, Medicaid, the ACA, and medical research, restricting vaccine access, spreading lies about autism and disease treatment, silencing and firing scientists, and spreading life-threatening misinformation.
Before the hearing, Protect Our Care and 314 Action held a rally with Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Chris Murphy (D-CT), Jon Ossoff (D-GA), Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD), and all six members of the Congressional Democratic Doctors Caucus, calling on RFK Jr. to resign and to hold Donald Trump accountable for this public health crisis. “The American people are feeling the pain of Donald Trump and RFK Jr.’s health care disaster,” said Protect Our Care President Brad Woodhouse. “His dangerous agenda was on full display during this hearing, showing just how far he’s willing to go to undermine science and put lives at risk. Donald Trump and Republicans already took a wrecking ball to our health care system by nominating RFK Jr. in the first place, but if they refuse to step in and stop this disaster, they will own every consequence: skyrocketing premiums, closing hospitals, and a health care system in total chaos. The health and well-being of millions across the country is in jeopardy unless RFK Jr. is immediately shown the door.”
