Washington, D.C. — The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has released new analysis on the Republican budget bill which confirmed the bill will be the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in American history. It takes away from working Americans while increasing the assets of the wealthiest Americans — by ripping health care and basic resources from millions. And yet, as House Republicans look to advance this bill through the Rules Committee, the legislation is only going to get more devastating for everyday Americans.
“CBO has confirmed what we’ve been saying all along — Republicans want to take health care from millions of seniors, children, people fighting cancer or addiction, and working families so they can give tax breaks to billionaires and massive corporations,” said Protect Our Care President Brad Woodhouse. “The bill gets worse by the minute. It was bad from the start, but every day, the Republicans find new ways to upend health care for hardworking families in order to dole out more tax breaks to the wealthy. Despite their false promises and empty rhetoric, even so-called Republican moderates have repeatedly failed to protect health care for their constituents. Millions of Americans will lose their coverage and care, costs will skyrocket, hospitals will close, seniors will be thrown out of nursing homes, and American health care will never be the same.”
