Washington D.C. – In a breathtakingly reckless and irresponsible statement even for anti-vax conspiracy super-spreader Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Donald Trump’s Secretary of Health declared during an interview this week: “This idea that you should trust the experts, a good mother doesn’t do that”.

Kayla Hancock, Director of Public Health Watch, a project of Protect Our Care issued the following statement in response: “It’s alarming that the United States Secretary of Health would discourage mothers from listening to medical experts who follow peer-reviewed science and data to make their recommendations on what’s safe and beneficial for children. Kennedy’s laissez-faire ‘Do your own research’ advice is a big reason why measles is currently running amok in several states, where conspiracy theories and outright lies scared many parents out of vaccinating their children. RFK Jr.’s reckless remarks will only further sow mistrust in credible science while making way for grifters to profit off dangerous conspiracies.”
