Washington, D.C. — Families across the country are already feeling the devastating consequences of Republicans’ health care cuts, and a new KFF analysis shows the pain is only going to get worse. The analysis finds that Affordable Care Act (ACA) insurers are proposing another year of double-digit premium increases in 2027. The findings are the latest evidence of the damage caused by Republicans’ ripping away the ACA tax credits that lowered costs for working families, which has already driven millions off their coverage.
Protect Our Care Chair Leslie Dach issued the following statement:
“Every day the consequences of GOP health care cuts get worse. KFF’s analysis shows a second straight year of double-digit premium increases in 2027 is just the latest hit on hard-working families struggling to get by after Republicans ripped away the tax credits that helped millions of Americans afford coverage. They created a chain reaction that is driving premiums even higher, pushing more people off their coverage, and leaving families with nowhere to turn.
“This was a deliberate choice by Republicans who took away affordable coverage from millions of people to help fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. The damage is already being felt at kitchen tables across America, and these new premium hikes show the worst is still ahead. And Republicans will pay the political price. Health care is already the driving issue leading up to the elections, and as the consequences mount, it will only mobilize voters further.”
