Across America, millions are trapped between a rock and a hard place after Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress slashed health care to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Republicans gutted the tax credits that more than 22 million Americans relied on to see a doctor when they’re sick. As a result, a health care affordability crisis is squeezing working families as premiums more than doubled on average, forcing millions to make impossible sacrifices just to make ends meet and afford coverage. Moms in Georgia like Deborah from Alpharetta have “indefinitely” delayed retirement plans after her monthly premiums skyrocketed from $63 to $1200. Grandmothers in Missouri like Deb from Kansas City are foregoing medical procedures after her premiums spiked.
One year after Trump and Republicans in Congress sold out the American people, more than eight million Americans have lost health care. As premiums continue soaring, as they are in Maryland and Virginia, and as insurers continue fleeing marketplaces, as they are in Oklahoma, more Americans will find themselves joining the ranks of the uninsured. These are our loved ones, friends, and neighbors — small business owners, gig workers, and farmers. These are the millions in November who will hold Trump and Republicans in Congress to account for putting tax breaks for the likes of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk ahead of ensuring quality, affordable, and accessible health care for working people.
