***MEDIA ADVISORY FOR APRIL 20-25, 2026***

This week, Protect Our Care is on the ground in Arizona, Georgia, Virginia, and Iowa, alongside health care leaders, advocates, and elected officials, calling out Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans for slashing more than $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. The damage is already unfolding as more than 800 hospitals, nursing homes, maternity wards, and other critical providers are in crisis, closing their doors, scaling back care, or hanging on by a thread.

The consequences are devastating. Rural communities are staring down the loss of nearby care, forcing families to drive hours in emergencies. Pregnant women are being pushed into maternity care deserts, left with overcrowded ERs instead of safe delivery options. Health care workers are losing their jobs by the tens of thousands, with more layoffs looming, even as families get slammed with rising costs. Voters won’t forget who created this crisis when they head to the ballot box come November.
