This Week’s Events In California, Arizona, and Georgia Are Giving Voice to Millions of Americans Struggling With Rising Premiums and the Loss of Affordable Health Coverage
This week, U.S. Representatives John Garamendi (D-CA-8), Greg Stanton (D-AZ-04), Hank Johnson (D-GA-4), and Gwen Moore (D-WI-04), storytellers, and advocates will join Protect Our Care in the states to continue the “Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now” campaign to hold Donald Trump and Republicans accountable for driving up health care costs for working families. It’s been over a year since Republicans slashed more than $1 trillion from Medicaid and gutted Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits to bankroll tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Now, Americans are paying the price for Republicans’ cuts, with premiums rising, coverage slipping away, and prescription drug costs putting even more pressure on Americans already struggling to afford health care.
Millions of Americans across the country are sick of watching their health care costs rise while being priced out of coverage they once relied on. Since July 2025, 2.6 million people have lost their marketplace coverage, with as many as 5 million people projected to lose coverage by the end of the year as costs continue to rise.
