Roughly 450,000 Pennsylvanians Will Lose Health Coverage Because of Trump’s Cuts

Philadelphia, PA – On Monday, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, will join Protect Our Care Pennsylvania to discuss the ongoing Trump-GOP health care crisis as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) open enrollment period is underway and Trump visits the Commonwealth in a blatant attempt to change the subject from his devastating actions. After spearheading the longest shutdown in U.S. history to terminate ACA tax credits, Trump and Republicans are doubling down on efforts to hike premium costs for over 21 million Americans, as 500,000 Pennsylvanians log onto the ACA marketplace to find that their health plans are more than twice as expensive as last year. The fight continues to protect premium tax credits and make health care affordable for Pennsylvanians, but Republicans are choosing to raise costs on working families in order to give handouts to billionaires.

Speakers will highlight the hypocrisy of President Trump coming to Pennsylvania to highlight his economy while failing to mention the health care affordability crisis he has created. Donald Trump and the Republicans don’t care about making health care affordable for their own constituents and hard-working Americans – they are more than happy to see premiums skyrocket. These are the same Republicans who just months ago slashed Medicaid by a trillion dollars to pay for tax breaks for billionaires and are letting ACA tax credits expire for another 21 million Americans—a fact millions of Americans won’t soon forget.
