Washington D.C. — Chaos and incompetence is nothing new for Trump-RFK Jr.’s FDA. Now, its embattled anti-vax Director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research Vinay Prasad is headed for the exit next month after a string of erratic behavior including outrageous evidence-free claims of children dying from the covid vaccine, “retaliation against subordinates and verbally berating staff,” controversially denying the approval of new drugs for rare diseases, overruling his own staff to stonewall a major life-saving flu shot, and facing allegations of criminally violating the Trade Secrets Act.

Kayla Hancock, Director of Protect Our Care’s Public Health Project released the following statement:

“Donald Trump and RFK Jr. committed malpractice by promoting an anti-vax chaos agent as the nation’s top vaccine regulator. Vinay Prasad’s short tenure has left the nation less prepared to deal with the next health crisis at a time preventable diseases are making a big comeback, no thanks to this administration’s unfounded vaccine fear mongering. He’s squashed hopes of patients and their families by arbitrarily rejecting treatments for rare diseases. He’s promoted highly dubious claims about lifesaving vaccines he never bothered to back up, which no doubt scared many Americans away and left communities more vulnerable. Here’s an idea. How about filling this critical health post with someone who’s qualified and competent, not corrupt and contemptuous of peer-reviewed science. Someone who checks RFK’s anti-vax, grifter influencer box shouldn’t be the only consideration – it should be immediately disqualifying.”
