Teresa Acosta is a small business owner from Georgia. A single mom of three kids, one of whom suffers from Type 1 diabetes, Acosta needs to keep her family insured—even if that means giving up her business.
“Come January, my premiums will triple, my co-pays will rise, and my son’s diabetes supplies will increase dramatically,” she told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I have made the heartbreaking decision to let my business go. Ultimately, I hope to find a new job, with an employer-sponsored health care plan to continue affording my son’s health care.”
