Hospital Crisis Watch: Republican Health Care Cuts Sever “Lifelines” Families Depend on as Communities “Mourn” Loss of Local Providers
Nationwide, over 1,200 hospitals, clinics, wards, and nursing homes are facing closure or cuts after Donald Trump and Republicans gutted Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations, and the list keeps growing by the week.
In rural Montana, the Seeley Lake Clinic is closing its doors for good, cutting off another small community from the life-saving care they’ve relied on for years. In New York, expectant mothers and families are mourning the loss of their local birthing center, left to figure out on their own where to turn when it’s time to deliver. In Georgia, Grady Health System is cutting nurses’ pay by 40%, citing Republicans ripping away health care tax credits that hard-working families relied on to afford coverage.
From coast to coast, families are living through the same story: care that keeps disappearing, costs that keep skyrocketing, and communities left without access to life-saving care. As Republicans double down on these cuts heading into November, it will only keep getting worse.
