Washington, D.C. – Today, Protect Our Care is releasing new state-by-state fact sheets revealing the mounting consequences of the GOP health care crisis. Nationwide, 8 million Americans have lost their health care since Trump and congressional Republicans slashed over $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Working families have been crushed by rising health care costs and skyrocketing premiums after Republicans ripped away the health care tax credits that over 22 million Americans relied on to see a doctor. At every turn, Trump and Republicans have put the interests of billionaires ahead of working families, and this crisis is only going to get worse, with 15 million Americans projected to lose their health care.

Protect Our Care President Brad Woodhouse issued the following statement:

“Eight million Americans have lost their health care because Donald Trump and Republicans decided they would rather hand out tax breaks to billionaires than protect working families. Every day that health care becomes more expensive, a family is forced to make an impossible choice between putting food on the table and staying covered, a senior is forced to ration their medication, and an expectant mother has to travel farther to access maternity care. From Alaska to Florida, these people are our neighbors, our parents, our kids, and they’re sick of paying the price for Republicans’ greed. They deserve better, and in November they will demand it at the ballot box.”
