Washington D.C. – In recent months, Trump health secretary RFK Jr., the White House propaganda department, and Donald Trump himself repeatedly made the dubious claim that Tylenol use during pregnancy causes autism – which spread fear among consumers and led to “over half of Republicans (56%) surveyed to say it was “definitely” or “probably” true.” Now, as KFF reports, a “new review and meta-analysis published in The Lancet found no evidence that acetaminophen (Tylenol) use during pregnancy increases the risk of autism or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).”
“Another day, another debunked health claim from the Trump administration that continues to give a national platform to incompetent, anti-science fraud RFK Jr. The disproven Tylenol smear is just the latest example of why RFK Jr. is a completely untrustworthy and dangerous arbiter of public health information,” said Kayla Hancock, Director of Public Health Watch, a project of Protect Our Care. “Almost daily, Kennedy has a bad health take based on nothing but vibes, like his unfounded and highly dangerous smear campaign against vaccine safety. The problem is, many Americans believe him and turn around and make decisions based on this guidance over the advice of actual medical experts. Kennedy never apologizes when his wild health claims collapse under the weight of basic scientific scrutiny; he just moves on to promoting his next conspiracy like red meat curing serious mental illness. Each day RFK Jr. remains at this critical post, the more lives are put at risk.”
