Washington, D.C. — Today, Protect Our Care is releasing 29 new fact sheets, first reported in The Hill, that expose the damage and real-world consequences key Republicans have caused in their districts and states by making the largest health care cuts in history, slashing over $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations, and ripping away health care tax credits. Each fact sheet breaks down the toll that GOP cuts are taking on communities, including how premiums have doubled or tripled, hospitals, clinics, and providers are being pushed to the brink, and who has already lost the coverage they relied on.
The fact sheets come as part of the final push of “GOP Hot Seat Summer,” the latest phase of Protect Our Care’s “Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now” campaign. Throughout August, Protect Our Care held empty-chair town halls, petition drop-offs, and accountability events, putting a spotlight on vulnerable Republicans who voted to rip away health care. We’ll continue these efforts throughout the fall, including a nationwide bus tour.
