Events in Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Virginia, Wisconsin Give Voice to the Millions of Americans Rightfully Sick of Trump and Republicans in Congress Gutting Our Health Care
This week, U.S. Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Representative Mark Pocan (D-WI-02), local electeds, storytellers, and advocates will join Protect Our Care in four states to continue the “Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now” campaign, a multi-month effort channeling the frustration of millions of Americans across parties who are fed up with a health care system that has been wrecked by Donald Trump and Republicans for no other reason than to give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations. Speakers will call on lawmakers to restore Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits and Medicaid funding, lower costs, remove barriers to care, and fix our broken health care system.
Americans are fed up with the growing health care crisis after Trump and Republicans slashed more than $1 trillion from Medicaid and gutted ACA tax credits to bankroll tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Since then, approximately eight million people have lost the coverage they relied on to see a doctor when they’re sick, while costs have skyrocketed for millions more. Over 80 hospital wards, over 50 maternity wards, and nearly 320 clinics have shuttered nationwide. Because of Donald Trump and his Republican allies, everyone, everywhere, will pay higher costs, regardless of where they get coverage. Expectant mothers are traveling farther for maternity care, seniors are losing access to long-term care, and people with disabilities are facing devastating disruptions in critical services.
