Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-OR), Senators Patty Murray (D-WA), Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) led Senate Democrats in introducing a resolution to end Trump’s new front on his war on health care: allowing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to deny seniors’ medical care.

The resolution will stop the Trump administration from using AI to automatically deny seniors who rely on Medicare coverage treatments a doctor has prescribed. Seemingly, the fallout of gutting Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act to bankroll tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations, terminating coverage for 15 million Americans, including children, veterans, and Americans with disabilities, was not enough for the Trump administration; they are coming for seniors next.

“Trump, RFK Jr., and Dr. Oz concocted this wild experiment for one purpose and one purpose alone: to rip care away from the seniors who need it the most, continuing their war on health care to bankroll tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations,” said Protect Our Care Chair Leslie Dach. “Thanks to Senate Democrats who sounded the alarm, Senate Republicans are now forced to pick a side. Will they allow the Trump administration to use AI to deny seniors the procedures that their doctors prescribe them, or will they succumb to common sense and put an end to this madness? Best believe the American people are watching. Voters at the ballot box this November won’t forgive Senate Republicans for putting their party over the health and well-being of seniors accessing the care they deserve and need.”
