Today and throughout the week, Protect Our Care will hold events in Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin to discuss the ongoing Trump-GOP health care affordability crisis. Since taking office, Trump and congressional Republicans have launched a full-out assault on everyday people’s health care, ransacking over $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to fund another GOP billionaire and big corporation tax break. The fallout of their attacks is so devastatingly widespread that over 600 hospitals, nursing homes, and other critical providers are at risk of shuttering or have already closed their doors. Now, they are hell-bent on ripping away ACA tax credits that more than 21 million Americans rely on for affordable health care, doubling, tripling, and even quadrupling the health insurance premiums of hard-working people. Last week, congressional Democrats sent a unified message to the GOP: it is time to end your health care affordability crisis and extend the overwhelmingly popular ACA tax credits.
