As Open Enrollment Begins, the Fight to Protect The Affordable Care Act’s Enhanced Premium Tax Credits Continues
PHOENIX, AZ — On Tuesday, November 4 at 10:00AM Arizona time, Senator Mark Kelly will join Protect Our Care Arizona, Honest Arizona, and Committee to Protect Health Care with storytellers and advocates to discuss the ongoing Trump-GOP health care crisis as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) open enrollment period began on November 1. Unless Donald Trump and congressional Republicans drop their scheme to rip health care tax credits away from working families, over 370,000 Arizonans will log onto the ACA marketplace and find that their health plans are more than twice as expensive as last year. Throughout the ongoing shutdown, Democrats in Congress have continued to fight to protect premium tax credits, but Republicans are steadfast in their efforts to raise costs on working families in order to give handouts to billionaires.
Despite GOP attacks, the ACA is more popular than ever and helps over 20 million Americans across the political spectrum access affordable preventative and lifesaving care. Speakers will highlight the importance of protecting the ACA and other health care programs while holding Republicans accountable for ripping away tax credits and keeping hardworking Arizona families in the dark about their premium increases.
