***MEDIA ADVISORY FOR TUESDAY, APR. 14, 2026, AT 12:30 PM ET***

The Momnibus, Introduced By Reps. Lauren Underwood (D-IL-14), Alma Adams (D-NC-12), and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Would End the Maternal Health Crisis, Help Ensure That Every Woman Can Access Safe, Affordable, High-Quality Maternity Care

Washington, D.C. On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 12:30 PM ET, U.S. Senator Cory Booker, Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14), and Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, Former Administrator, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will join Protect Our Care during Black Maternal Health Week to spotlight the urgent need to pass the Momnibus and address America’s worsening maternal health crisis.

Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress have slashed over $1 trillion from the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid, which funds care for over 40 percent of births, shuttering over 40 maternity care providers such as labor and delivery units, and ended the health care tax credits, driving up costs and stripping coverage away from women who can least afford to lose it.

The conversation will focus on the Momnibus, a package of 14 bills designed to tackle the root causes of maternal mortality, morbidity, and disparities. The United States is in the midst of a maternal health crisis, with the highest rate of maternal deaths among high-income nations, and Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women.
