Donald Trump told Senate Republicans this morning that the GOP’s major losses in the 2025 election were a voter rejection of the GOP health care shutdown. Republicans have refused to reopen the government unless they can end tax credits for people’s health care costs, driving up premiums by 114%.

“I think if you read the polls, the shutdown was a big factor negative for the Republicans and that was a big factor,” Trump said. He’s right.

Navigator polling data shows voters continue to blame Republicans for the shutdown (by 13-points) and even more of them blame Republicans for the premium increase (by 28-points).
