Washington, D.C. – Following Donald Trump’s nomination of Dr. Heidi Overton to run the FDA, Protect Our Care president Brad Woodhouse issued the following statement:
“Since Donald Trump now wears his deadly and unfounded anti-vax agenda on his sleeve, it’s no surprise he wants another unhinged science-denier running the FDA alongside RFK Jr. While Trump was napping during his anti-vax executive order signing, Dr. Overton was in the spotlight making the frivolous case for pushing states to skirt federal courts and endanger more kids with watered down vaccine guidance in the middle of a record-breaking measles crisis. Polling shows Trump’s scheme to put kids at greater risk of preventable disease while hiking costs on parents falls far outside the Overton window: voters hate it. And given that the last FDA head was booted for not approving addictive and harmful flavored vapes fast enough for young Americans, is there any doubt Trump got assurances she’ll make that happen on behalf of his big tobacco lobbyist and donor golfing buddies? We’re about to make poisoning kids great again.
