In case you missed it, watch as Senator Tim Kaine’s simple line of questioning to Trump Surgeon General nominee Casey Means today – yes or no, does she believe the flu vaccine reduces children’s risk of hospitalization — devolves into a cringe-inducing display of mental gymnastics.

Even without a license to practice medicine, Means should still be familiar with the major study promoted by the CDC finding the flu vaccination reduced children’s risk of flu-related pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) admission by 74% during flu seasons from 2010-2012.
Either Means is worried about publicly contradicting her potential future boss RFK Jr. who is waging a baseless and dangerous fear campaign against the flu vaccine — or she also embraces the same unfounded anti-vax conspiracies he does. Her refusal today to commit to encouraging Americans to get vaccinated against measles, flu or whooping cough strongly suggests the latter.
