US Reps. Suhas Subramanyam, James Walkinshaw, Jennifer McClellan, and Bobby Scott Joined Protect Our Care’s “Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now” Bus Tour
This week, Protect Our Care’s “Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now” bus tour rolled into Dulles, Williamsburg, and Virginia Beach, Virginia to call out Donald Trump and Republicans – including Reps. Wittmen and Kiggans — for taking a wrecking ball to our health care system. During the events, Virginians voiced their outrage toward Republicans for throwing people’s health care under the bus to bankroll tax breaks for Trump’s billionaire buddies and big corporations. Speakers demanded commonsense solutions, including reversing Medicaid cuts, restoring the ACA premium tax credits, and lowering the cost of prescription drugs. The fight for affordable health care has begun, and we’re just getting started.
- In Virginia, 33 health care facilities have either closed or are at risk of doing so after Republicans like Rob Wittman and Jen Kiggans’ vote sparked a health care crisis. For many Virginians, getting care means traveling farther, waiting longer, paying more — or going without it altogether.
- An estimated 237,000 Virginians have already lost the Medicaid, CHIP, or ACA coverage they counted on to see a doctor after Republicans gutted health care.
- Premiums for Virginians who counted on the health tax credits Republicans gutted increased by an average of 167% this year.

“I’ve seen a very clear agenda in this Congress. It’s an agenda to pick the pockets of hard-working people and line the pockets of the wealthiest and those closely connected to Donald Trump.”
Williamsburg

“House Democrats will keep ramping up the pressure on the House Republican leadership to reverse these cuts and ensure every American can access the health care they need when they need it, without going bankrupt and without driving hours to get it. It is time to fix the health care crisis now because the American people are sick of it.”
Virginia Beach

“You can’t stand there and say you saved something you had a hand in cutting.”
