One year after Republicans passed their disastrous tax bill, the consequences are impossible to ignore. As the anniversary of the law approaches this weekend, local headlines across the country tell the story Republicans hoped Americans wouldn’t see: families losing health coverage, hospitals pushed to the brink, and health care costs spiraling out of control after Republicans cut more than $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. All of this was done to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations while working families pay the price. Leading up to the anniversary, Protect Our Care held nine events across as many states headlined by Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and John Hickenlooper (D-CO), Representatives Jason Crow (D-CO-06) and Brittany Pettersen (D-CO-07), and Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, alongside local lawmakers and advocates. This week’s clips are a stark reminder that the health care crisis Republicans created is here, and it’s getting worse by the day.
