The Toronto Blue Jays weren’t the only ones who struck out on Saturday. Millions of hard-working families saw Republicans more than double their health care premiums as Affordable Care Act (ACA) open enrollment began. And for Donald Trump, whose approval rating just hit an all-time low on the eve of gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey, the fallout from the GOP health care chaos should serve as a wakeup call.
Latest polling keeps the score. Americans know Trump and the GOP are raising inflation and driving up the cost of everyday necessities. They’re livid that Trump and Republicans shut down the government to rip away affordable health care from over 24 million everyday people. And now they can log onto Healthcare.gov and see firsthand how much their health care premiums are going up because of the GOP health care chaos. Playing with working people’s health care may be a game to Republicans, but for American families, affording health care coverage is life or death. Until Trump and his party start putting health care for everyday people before tax breaks for billionaire donors, they will continue striking out in the polls and at the ballot box.
