Kennedy Jr. set to make seven Congressional appearances after avoiding all committees for seven months, Protect Our Care released a new report, ‘RFK Jr. vs. Public Health’. First covered by The Hill, the report highlights the many failing marks on Kennedy’s report card that exemplify how Donald Trump and RFK Jr. have turned their back on our nation’s health to pay for an illegal war and tax breaks for billionaires — and don’t care that health care affordability has become Americans’ #1 economic worry.
“RFK Jr. truly earned the dubious honor of having the lowest public trust rating for health information in the country, and not just by bragging about snorting cocaine off of toilet seats,” said Brad Woodhouse, President of Protect Our Care. “Kennedy has let down so many families with debunked medical claims and snake oil treatments that gave false hope. He’s stabbed his own allies in the back by endorsing Trump’s revival of a cancer-linked weedkiller just to enrich GOP chemical industry donors. He’s proudly carrying out Trump’s Big Ugly health care cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act that are jacking up premiums, denying coverage to millions, laying waste to public health infrastructure, and shuttering hospitals — all to pay for more unwanted war and billionaire tax breaks.
“Years of RFK Jr. abusing his celebrity to spread unfounded anti-vax conspiracies have eroded vaccination rates and propelled preventable diseases,” added Woodhouse. “Even with measles outbreaks at the worst levels in a quarter century, Kennedy is more committed than ever to enacting dangerous anti-vax policies. And the catastrophic medical research grant cuts at Kennedy’s NIH are killing innovation and the treatments of tomorrow. Trump’s health secretary has fully exposed himself as a charlatan whose contempt for peer-reviewed science is making America sicker and woefully unprepared for the next public health crisis. Secretary Kennedy ought to resign, but he’s clearly far too invested in promoting his own brand with our tax dollars.”
On Thursday morning ahead of Kennedy’s first hearing, Protect Our Care and 314 Action will hold a press event outside the U.S. Capitol with Democratic Congressional Doctors Caucus members, advocates, and story tellers to urge lawmakers to hold Kennedy accountable for his dangerous actions that have left Americans sicker as health care costs skyrocket.
