One year after Trump and Republicans in Congress gutted our health care to bankroll tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations, working families are being crushed by soaring health care costs. In nearly every state, from New York to Washington, Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace enrollment is plummeting after Republicans ripped away the tax credits that more than 22 million Americans relied on to see a doctor. Now, premiums have more than doubled, insurers are pulling out of marketplaces, and families are forced to make impossible choices between putting food on the table or affording a doctor’s visit. In fact, in Ohio, 161,000 people dropped their ACA coverage after the average monthly premium roughly doubled between 2025 and 2026. Meanwhile, moms across the nation are being forced to delay or forego their health care altogether just to make ends meet.
Over 8 million Americans have been priced off their coverage, and this is only the beginning. Working families are sick of costs spiraling out of control. In November, they will not forget who handed out billions in tax breaks for the likes of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk in exchange for their health care.
