This month, Protect Our Care kicked off “Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now” in our nation’s Capitol and with a fourteen-state blitz featuring rallies, town halls, and press conferences. At every event, elected officials, advocates, and storytellers spoke about being sick of the health care crisis Trump and Republicans in Congress created by gutting over $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act — a corrupt scheme to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. They spoke about being sick of watching their premiums skyrocket, deductibles soar, and out-of-pocket costs balloon. They spoke about being sick of paying more and getting less. And most of all, they spoke about being sick of worrying that one illness or accident could leave them buried in insurmountable medical debt.
Stretching from New Hampshire to California, Americans are demanding action from lawmakers and calling for solutions to lower costs, lower barriers to care, and fix our health care system broken by Republicans. From now until the fall, “Sick of It!” will continue crisscrossing America, giving voice to the millions fed up with rising health care costs and holding to account the Republican lawmakers making care more expensive. Next month, “Sick of It!” continues the momentum, ratcheting up the pressure with accountability events with our over 100 state and local partners.
