Events Included Over 60 Elected and Appointed Officials and Dozens of Health Advocates and Storytellers
Washington, D.C. — Over the last four weeks, Protect Our Care’s “Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now” nearly 8,000-mile bus tour, Care Force One made 34 stops in 15 states, taking the fight directly to communities where families are hit hardest by rising health care costs and coverage losses. Across the country, hard-working families are fed up with the growing health care crisis after Trump and Republicans slashed $1 trillion from Medicaid and ripped away Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits to bankroll tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Every stop featured real stories of people impacted by Republican cuts to health care. Speakers called on lawmakers to enact commonsense health care solutions, including restoring tax credits to lower insurance premiums, reversing devastating Medicaid cuts, and passing policies to lower drug prices for everyone.
“From coast to coast, we brought together health care champions to stand up and speak out, while hearing from scores of Americans who are sick of what Donald Trump and Republicans have done to their health care,” said Protect Our Care President Brad Woodhouse. “Families are facing skyrocketing costs, millions have lost coverage, and communities are watching their hospitals struggle to survive. Trump and Republicans created this health care crisis to fund tax breaks for billionaires, and Americans across the country are making clear they won’t put up with it. Tomorrow, voters will finally make their voices heard in what has indisputably become a health care election. And after keeping health care in the spotlight and fighting against Republican lies, we look forward to seeing the results.”
