Washington, D.C. – In the run-up to the midterms, the Trump White House dispatched health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to dozens of political battlegrounds to stump for Republicans. “Bobby Unleashed”, they called it. They were so confident RFK Jr. would be the GOP’s midterm political savior they even rewarded him with access to U.S. military jets for campaign purposes, billed to taxpayers at $9,000 an hour. Now a new analysis from Protect Our Care reveals the effort to be a colossal embarrassment that underscores Sec. Kennedy’s political toxicity.
If vote tallies remain on their current trajectory, RFK Jr’s midterm blitz will have resulted in an abysmal 90 percent loss rate:
- RFK Jr. visited 30 swing House districts this year for campaign stops and conveniently placed ‘official’ events:
- Democrats have so far won 26 of these House seats; 16 of them were flips; 10 were Dems who won reelection
- Republicans have only won 2 so far in FL-13 and VA-05
- 2 races are too close to call: Democrats lead in MN-01; Republicans lead in CO-03
- In addition, Kennedy participated in rallies and events for Zach Lahn (R-IA) — and he lost. Kennedy also participated in a Ken Paxton (R-TX) rally and an event for Mike Rogers (R-MI) (the one featuring RFK’s wildly racist tirade against all Arab people), and they both lost as well.
On the flip side, Senators-elect Annie Andrews and Abdul El-Sayed made RFK Jr. accountability central to their campaigns—and won handily. Dr. Andrews calls RFK Jr. her “archnemesis”. And the record number of Democratic scientists and doctors who were just elected would likely consider RFK Jr’s anti-science antics a powerful motivator for running in the first place.
Protect Our Care president Brad Woodhouse: “RFK Jr is useless to Republicans politically, almost as useless as he’s been dealing with public health threats like measles and mass food-borne illness. Even with access to military jets on the taxpayer dime, RFK Jr wasn’t worth his salt on the trail. MAHA supporters are clearly not married to Kennedy or Trump especially after so many broken administration promises and sellouts to toxic industries. Donald Trump is now reassessing his cabinet after suffering a humiliating political wipeout, and what can he honestly say Secretary Kennedy has brought to the table? The health secretary has proven to be nothing but a political liability and an unqualified phony that’s made America sicker. What does Trump gain standing by a guy who’s only interested in promoting his own brand and facing a deluge of investigations over his corruption scandals and disastrous war on vaccines?”
