On the debate stage this week, Collins tried to spin her record on health care, pointing to the $50 billion rural health fund, but that is just a drop in the bucket compared to the nearly $1 trillion cut from Medicaid, a lifeline for rural communities, while 20 Maine health care providers have been forced to shut down, cut services, or are at risk of doing so following the GOP health care cuts. She voted to advance Republicans’ bill cutting $1 trillion from Medicaid to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations, and she helped take away ACA tax credits from working families, resulting in massive premium increases in the middle of an unprecedented cost of living crisis.
