One year after Trump and Republicans in Congress slashed more than $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, the nation is in a health care crisis that worsens every single day. Now, seniors in nursing homes are being forced out of their beds, sick kids are losing access to treatment, and soon-to-be moms are traveling hours to maternity wards and birthing clinics. All of this is occurring because Republicans made the largest cuts to health care in American history to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations on Wall Street.
Across America, more than eight million people have lost the coverage they relied on to stay healthy and live, while 15 million are set to lose it in the harrowing years to come. Over 1,000 hospitals, clinics, and other critical providers are closing, cutting essential services, or are at risk of cuts or closure. While Trump and Republicans desperately try to sweep the consequences of their health care cuts under the rug, coverage just keeps rolling in. The coverage is a testament to the fact that, in November, voters won’t forgive Trump and Republicans for putting tax breaks for the likes of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos over ensuring their neighbors, friends, and loved ones can obtain affordable health care.
