WSJ Confirms Donald Trump Behind The Wheel of Deadly Anti-Vax Agenda

Washington D.C. – New reporting from the Wall Street Journal confirms what Protect Our Care has stressed for months: that the administration’s deadly, unfounded, and unpopular anti-vax agenda has been kept alive and well by Donald Trump himself. 

“The more polls, peer-reviewed studies, and medical experts tell Donald Trump how unwanted, unwarranted, and unsafe his anti-vax agenda is, the more gung-ho he gets to make preventable disease great again,” said Brad Woodhouse, president of Protect Our Care. “The reality is ugly. If Trump gets his way and waters down the child vaccine schedule over the debunked autism myth, more American kids will suffer and die of preventable disease. We’re already in the middle of a record-breaking measles crisis thanks to vaccine lies amplified loudly by this administration, yet Trump is determined to do more damage. Everyone agrees that pinpointing causes of autism is critical, but Trump and RFK Jr. are hindering that mission by dismissing the overwhelming scientific consensus that there is no link to vaccines. Insisting their guts are right and the science is wrong all but guarantees federal research and resources will be misspent retreading old ground – all while fueling more unfounded fear that further drags down vaccination rates and puts the public at risk.”

  • At a May lunch at the president’s golf course in northern Virginia, President Trump asked Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., why he wasn’t doing more to probe the alleged connection between vaccines and autism.

  • [Kennedy] had been asked by White House political advisers to tone down his vaccine efforts ahead of the midterms … Now, it was the commander in chief who was pushing to make the study of vaccines and autism more of a priority. The president steers nearly every conversation with his health secretary back to the issue.
  • Chief among the president’s desires: Do more to reduce the number of shots that federal guidelines recommend for children … Kennedy will be a failure if he doesn’t make progress on the issue, the president has told aides … Scientists in mainstream academic settings also say there is no scientific justification for dramatically paring down the childhood vaccine schedule.

  • Trump has talked about his particular interest in the vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella, known as MMR. … Multiple scientific studies have shown no connection between the MMR vaccine and autism, including a 2019 Annals of Internal Medicine study of more than 600,000 children in Denmark and a 2021 Cochrane review of 138 studies.
