Washington D.C. – During last night’s debate, Senator Susan Collins made a startling admission: she has zero regret for voting to confirm longtime anti-vax grifter Robert Kennedy Jr as Trump health secretary despite the cloud of controversy, corruption, and public health crises that followed. Just this week an Axios-Ipsos poll found only 1 in 4 voters trust health information from RFK Jr, while fewer than 1 in 5 Americans believe his policies have made the country healthier. There’s many reasons why. Even MAHA activists are abandoning Kennedy in droves.
“Vaccine obstructionist RFK Jr quickly became public health enemy #1 as Trump health secretary, and Susan Collins is somehow proud of giving him that power,” said Brad Woodhouse, president of Protect Our Care. “We’re in the middle of the worst measles crisis in 35 years that’s already killed 6 and sickened kids in Penobscot County – and it all traces back to people like RFK Jr who abused their influence to spread debunked lies about the MMR vaccine for years. Over 4,000 cases and counting this year — mostly among the unvaccinated — and yet RFK Jr keeps scaring parents away from the simplest and safest solution to this emergency, the measles vaccine. The non-stop outbreaks of measles are apparently not enough suffering for Kennedy, who’s now manufacturing misinformation about the life-saving Hepatitis B vaccine. RFK Jr has been a craw in the side of pediatricians and medical professionals across the country, but Susan Collins still likes what she sees.
Added Woodhouse: “RFK Jr is a walking corruption scandal who abuses tax dollars to promote his own brand and steers bogus anti-vax lawsuit money to his family. This is a guy who brags about snorting cocaine off of toilet seats and hosts celebrity cooking shows rather than lift a finger to address the rash of preventable diseases and foodborne illnesses that the administration’s war on science has wrought. One of Senator Collin’s biggest ‘concerns’ before rubber stamping Kennedy was his threat to gut infectious disease research at NIH, which he promptly followed through on, endangering us all. Poll after poll shows virtually no one believes any health information coming from the health secretary – a major problem – but Susan Collins still gladly takes him at his word. RFK Jr has laid waste to America’s public health infrastructure — slashing research into cures while mass firing doctors and food inspectors. Despite leaving us far less prepared for the next health crisis, Susan Collins gives RFK Jr her continued vote of confidence. Collins helped make this mess and now won’t even acknowledge it, let alone help clean it up. Her horrendous lack of judgement at the expense of kids’ health is now on the ballot.”
